Invitation
to
Doug's
Farewell Bash, Sunday 2nd
May '10.
Good Morning
For those who don't know
me, I am Doug's son-in-law, Nicky's husband. Most of you are probably aware
that Doug Squires will, on 5th
May, be leaving us to travel to Los Angeles, where he will commence a 3415
mile cycle ride across the US, starting on 8th May and finishing in Boston on
25th June.
To say 'On Yer Bike', we
are arranging a 'Farewell Bash' on the evening of 2nd May at 'The
Horizons Bar/Restaurant', situated at 'The Coventry Flying School', Rowleys
Road, just up from the traffic island at the London Road / A45 junction. Start
time 7.30pm finishing at 10pm..
There are bar facilities
and there will be a light buffet for
those who attend.
Whilst no doubt most of us
will be very pleased to see Doug disappear for a couple of months, not
least his long suffering wife Andree, we hope that you will come along to wish
him well and bring him lots of Vaseline to ease the inevitable pain!
No doubt Doug will be
enjoying every minute of this epic ride but there is a very serious motive
behind this extraordinary venture. The serious side, is to raise funds
for 'The RNIB, Rushton School & Children's Home', here in Coventry.

We would
love you to join us to say farewell and good luck to Doug, and please feel
free to invite any friends, family or people who know Doug and would like to say
ta-ra for now!
We are also planning a
small raffle, all proceeds of which will go towards the sponsorship and
excellent cause that Doug is supporting. Could you please respond to me to
confirm if you able to come on 2nd May so we can keep track of numbers, and
also let me know if you are able to donate a prize for the raffle: all offers
gratefully accepted!
