Chris Worland's Lunch Run
We've had a shortage of volunteers to arrange our normal Wednesday runs to a
venue for lunch. Chris Worland kindly volunteered to put on a run for May
but the response was not great. I put my hand up not to turning out but my
excuse was a loose tappet adjuster caused a displaced rear inlet pushrod that
escaped the evening before the run. I spent the day of the run getting a
replacement for the wayward severely chewed pushrod, removing debris from the
timing case and putting things back together. One or to other people who
would normally have attended had prior commitments so hopefully this poor
attendance will not be the start of a trend. Chris' report of the day and
some pictures below. Eddy.
"I arrived at the start for our Wednesday ride out at the Airport Cafe, Wellsbourne to be greeted by just one other rider, namely Mick Pegg (748 Ducati).
As we waited for more to arrive, out of the Cafe came Keith Lucas. He had travelled 40 miles one way to tell us he could not come on the ride due to earlier commitments. Keith moved his Honda for a photo shoot only to reveal a very nice pozidrive screw in his rear tyre. (See picture below) There was no apparent leakage of air so the offending piece was left in position for Keith's ride home. No further members arrived so at 11.15pm we set off for our destination, the Folly Inn at Adstock. The ride went very well through new countryside and after 80 miles (should have been 60) arrived at Adstone which is about 12 miles from Banbury. On checking the Tomtom, I discovered that my dyslexic finger had pressed the wrong place name. However it all turned out well in that we were close to Cannons Ashby, parked up, and went into the National Trust tea room for a 'bite'. Following lunch, we found the A5 and rode through heavy rain to the truck stop at Kilsby for tea. So, it was quite a mystery tour for even the organiser. Has Mick cleaned his Ducati Yet?
Only two riders including me, the organiser, do we still want the Wednesday ride outs!!!!!"
Regards
Chris Worland"

Where not to put your screws.

Mick and Keith.

Mick and Chris. (The Harley rider in the background rushed in when he
saw a photo opportunity.)

An example of how a pushrod should be compared with mine after machining by
the side of the cam follower. (OUCH!)
