The Classic Clubs Show 2011

The Classic Clubs Show at Stanford Hall on May 29th was a very relaxed affair. We had arrived early to erect the Coventry Section Gazebo and waited for bikes to arrive. The weather was a a bit blustery but thankfully dry so there were a good number of people coming through the gates. We had a surprisingly good display of thirteen Vincent twin powered machines on show and the Norvin outfit was awarded a commended rosette. There were lots of people as usual looking around the bikes and there was also lots of interest in Judith and John's and “V” twin BSA three-wheeler.
Recent additions to the section Rob Staley and Geoff Newbery have been sorting their machines and both made a special effort to get there. It was Rob’s wedding anniversary and he kept all parties happy by riding to Stanford Hall, disappearing for a few hours later in the day to join his wife for a celebratory meal and then returning to the event complete with happy wife. Geoff was still working on his bike the evening before and was uncertain as to whether to risk it. He decided to use the Rapide and was rewarded with a trouble free ride.
Jim Reynolds was on duty as ring master and compere and I got “caught” by him to talk a little about Vincent machines on the radio mike. A few of us rode our bikes around the display arena later with Peter Bromberg being chosen to talk about his bike.
Thanks to everyone who made this another interesting and enjoyable day. Eddy
