Coventry Parade

The Coventry Parade is a VMCC run event that starts from Coombe Abbey and the mayor of Coventry was there to flag off the riders.  The event was well supported by Coventry VOC members with Don A, Geof P,  John and Judith L, Maurice T, and Tony R all taking part and Gloria and Eddy Grew there to provide support and encouragement.  Don was on his trusty Sunbeam with an extra supply of petrol in the wicker basket just in case.  Tony was flying the Vincent flag with the only Stevenage product there.  The conditions ranged from heavy blustery showers one second to brilliant sunshine the next.  As the mayor flagged people away their sheltering umbrella was turned inside out at one stage.  The windy conditions were ideal for the kite flyers who were displaying a little further down the field.  John and Judith quickly erected the hood on their B.S.A. three-wheeler when the stair-rods came down  as they waited for their turn to leave.
Maurice kindly sent me a little update for this write up.  The Coventry section VOC not only supported this event with entries but they also took home some of the silverware.  The Post Vintage Cup went to John and Judith with their B.S.A. trike, Geoff Parr and his Empire Star was awarded the Gordon Jeal Memorial Cup for the best B.S.A. and Maurice got the Post-71 Cup with his custard yellow Honda 400-4.

Well done everyone.                                                                                                                                             Eddy
