Lunch Run Wednesday September 16th.
John T. chose the Wellesbourne Aerodrome Café as the starting point for his
run where eight of us gathered for a cup of tea before the off. Maurice
brought along his neighbour Stuart to enjoy the ride with us. We hope to
see him again when he has time from his other hobby, sailing.
Our lunchtime destination was the Norton Grange pub at Norton near
Evesham. John led us South to Halford where we got on the Fosse Way for a
mile before we turned off onto the A3400 through Tredington to Shipston on
Stour. There we headed East on the B4035 through Upper and Lower Brailles
before turning right onto a very minor road mysteriously called Traitor's Lane
where we splashed through Traitor's Ford.
We found better tar macadam as we ran onto the A436 to Stow on the Wold then
North East on the A424 past Broadway to Evesham and finally around the ring road
to Norton. The 50 mile route was an excellent mix of main roads, minor
roads and little lanes.
We had a good choice of meals at The Grange and were able to take advantage of
the two meals for the price of one promotion. Thanks to John for another
excellent day out. The reasonable weather held and improved slightly with
a little sunshine as Gloria and I rode home to Hinckley via Stratford on
Avon.
