Mike Hailwood Run

Dave S, Chris C, Gloria and myself ventured into Brum on the last Sunday of March to support the "MADE IN BIRMINGHAM" people on their Mike Hailwood run.  We met in Bracebridge Street where there was a line up of probably around 100 bikes.  There is a picture below of the plaque on one of the factory walls commemorating it's use by Norton.
The convoy of bikes followed the run leader out of Birmingham to the village of Tanworth in Arden where Mike Hailwood and his daughter are buried in the church graveyard.  In my view Mike was probably the best motor cycle road racer ever and certainly the best of his era.  It was a honour to visit his grave, a small thank you for the pleasure he gave me when I watched him race.
Tanworth in Arden is not too far from Stratford on Avon so Gloria and myself decided to point the Rapide in that direction.  M & S provided a couple of packs of sandwiches which we enjoyed while sitting down by the river in the warm sunshine.  The return trip to Hinckley pushed the trip around to a few miles over 100 for the day.
