NEC Classic Show 2011 I am in Australia for the whole of November. Gloria and I are staying with our eldest daughter and family near Adelaide. This report is compiled from email messages and pictures that George S, John B or Alan B have kindly sent to Australia by email. It sounds like I missed a very good show. Eddy. A lot of hard work went into the Vincent stand at the NEC Classic Show with everyone pulling together to get the stand virtually finished by around 2.30 pm on Thursday. George Spence went back at around 6.00 pm to receive another bike and finish off the display. We had a prime position, Alan Brittain’s display boards with the works pictures attached looked really good and the general consensus was that it was our best stand yet. A great variety of bikes were on the stand. Arthur Farrow managed to get the freight people to open the container at the port so his well ridden, slightly scathed Rapide, just back from the International Rally, could be on the stand on Thursday. Martin Wilkie brought along his1952 Autosport John Bolster road test Shadow. Mark Warriner's Norvin looked a very nice well sorted bike. Registered in 1965, it was his father's. When Mark was 15 his father told him he could have it when he could start it! (It started it first kick and sounded very crisp when he rode it out of hall on Sunday night.) John Kinley's Lightning looked as good as ever and was good company for Tim Kingham’s racing Comet while Geoff Ragg's Firefly provided a nice counterpoint. Don Alexander's HRD Model 80 was our oldest machine and certainly looked the part. Steib sidecars are almost synonymous with Vincent’s and Kym Danter's twin outfit was mouth watering for the punters. The open plan layout encouraged people on to the stand. Friday started slowly getting busy from mid day onwards and Saturday was crowded all day. People took lots of photographs of the machines with David Style's slightly tweaked Comet probably being the most photographed. Many thanks to all members who provided machines and spent time on the stand to make it such a great success.
