Stanford Hall Founder's Day

Some of the events we have attended at Stanford Hall this year have been held in pretty miserable weather.  Founder's Day, organised by the VMCC Taverner's section, made up for the wet days with an absolute scorcher.  The Coventry section awning provided a welcome oasis of shade on a day when the temperature must have been in the high 20's.  We had lots of visitors drop by for a chat including Brian Chapman who had ridden North to attend.  Former COVOC member Achim, gave the gathering an international  flavour.  Achim who is well known to many of the Coventry section is over here from Germany on his Vincent for a short stay.  He has turned up at several of our events over the last week or two.  We wish him a safe trip back and hope he can come and see us again soon.  The auto jumble was as large as ever and I managed to find a few more bits to help complete my Rapide.  Looking for a speedometer bulb holder I scrutinised every stall in the baking heat without seeing what I wanted.  On returning to Coventry section stand I thought I'd ask at the stall where I'd started my search.  It can be seen in the picture behind our stand.  Their answer was; "Yes sir we have new ones of those."  I could have saved myself a lot of sweaty searching.  The moral is if you don't see it ask.  More ice-cream please!   Eddy
