Winter Walk The Winter Walk arranged for November 1st was affected by bad weather. Dave Style who organized the event expected a lonely time but as you will see from his report below he got a pleasant surprise. "After weeks of dry weather, Sunday 1st started wet and windy! As the organiser must always turn up, I set off expecting to spend two hours with a paper on a pub car park. Half way there my mobile rang. So that's half the numbers cancelled! Soon after, I parked and saw a silver Honda car arrive. I wandered across with little expectation of setting off, to be greeted by Marion who said: 'Are you ready, I'm going?' OH! Right then so get kitted up. As we left I thought we will have two short cuts but the weather improved as we walked. I pointed out the short-cuts as we went along but Marion wanted to test herself to get back walking after the broken wrist. After a short breather and very little thought, even the last short cut was declined, and we completed the whole walk in fine pleasant weather. Well done Marion and thank you also for the seven who turned up for the lunch.! Dave Style Well done Dave and Marion for braving the elements on Sunday. I braved
the elements too on the Rapide to take part in a VMCC ride. Surprisingly
nine bikes splashed their way to the start and I enjoyed some wet miles around
the back lanes of Derbyshire and Leicestershire. Perversely, when we got
to the lunch stop at Sutton Cheney Wharf the clouds parted and the sun came
out. Love it or hate it our weather certainly keeps us guessing. |
