Wrinkly Run 1

The first Wrinkly Run of the year was organised by Don and as Don and Marion make a habit of visiting the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire every week we weren't surprised to find ourselves in Derbyshire.
The rendezvous for the start was the car park of  "The Roebuck" at Draycott in the Clay.  On a fine day we  had a good turnoout and it was nice to see Mick P. there in fine form after his recent hip operation albeit not yet on a bike.  Thanks to Chris W. for foregoing a ride on his bike to bring along Mick in his car.  Also good to see Maurice out on a bike again after a spot of not too good health.  It seemed a shame to move from the sunny car park with so many good conversations going.  Don fired up his "D" and cracked the whip to get us on the move.  The coffee stop was at the garden centre just outside Ashbourne.  There were four Vincent machines on the run, three twins and one single and Chris C, who had a prior engagement, was able to join us briefly on his Shadow at the coffee stop.
A quick drink set us up ready for the next part of the ride to our lunch stop at The Knockerdown pub where we found two ostriches in the garden enclosure and fine views over Carsington Water.  A good lunch was enjoyed with some of the party taking advantage of the sunshine to eat outside.  Suitably replenished a small party of three bikes decided to ride a little further into the Derbyshire hills on the virtually traffic free back lanes to The Roaches Tea Room where we had  pots of tea. We also had chocolate cake as it was too good to miss.  Thanks to Don for a good day out.        Eddy
